Lexus LF-A Takes on Roadster Form

Engineers and designers at Lexus continue to use their groundbreaking LF-A premium sports car concept as medium of expressing their ideas about what high-performance sporting vehicles are all about and should be. In this latest expression of the LF-A, they have removed the car's top to create a high-performance roadster.

The LF-A Roadster is based on the sturdy yet lightweight carbon-fiber and aluminum body used for the LF-A coupe. This helps maintain the structure's strength and rigidity even without a top.

Like its coupe counterpart, the LF-A Roadster is powered by a high-revving V10 engine that approaches 5.0 liters in displacement. The V10 is capable of more than 500 horsepower and test-track speeds greater than 200 mph. The engine is mounted in front of the passenger compartment but behind the front-axle centerline in what the LF-A's engineers refer to as a "front-mid" configuration.

The engine is connected via a torque tube and propeller shaft to a transaxle that is controlled by paddle shifters. The torque tube is a structural member that adds rigidity to the drivetrain and chassis while also reducing vibration.

Styling is rooted in the Lexus L-Finesse design philosophy, conferring the LF-A Roadster's front end with a compact, low-profile, aerodynamic shape. Like its coupe counterpart, the LF-A Roadster stands just 48 inches tall, but the Roadster configuration adds a speed adaptive rear wing.

The rear is marked by a pair of wrap-around, arrowhead-shaped taillights that bracket a pair of large grilles. These grilles vent the heated air from the car's two rear-mounted radiators into the LF-A Roadster's aerodynamic wake. The radiators are fed cool air by two large intake ducts mounted just above the rear wheel wells. This aft radiator positioning not only allowed the designers to keep the car's front profile low and tight but also aided the LF-A's chassis engineers in their search for optimal weight distribution.

Helping to provide balance and scale to the design, which features an overall length of 175.6 inches and a wheelbase of 102.6 inches, are high-performance tires on turbine-styled alloy wheels. The front tires are 265/35 R20s, while the rears are 305/30 R20s. Like the LF-A coupe, the brakes consist of 14.2-inch cross-drilled, vented discs up front, and 13.6-inch cross-drilled, vented discs at the rear. The front brake calipers are six-piston units and the rear calipers use four pistons each.

An "F" logo, located on each front fender of the Roadster, indicates the vehicle's status as a part of the new "F" marque. The name is derived from the original "F" designation for the first Lexus LS prototype. That vehicle was internally coded "Circle-F," with the "F" standing for "flagship." The Circle-F designation further evolved into the code name Flagship One, or F1, and the first F1 concept developed into Lexus' first vehicle, the LS. Since then, the "F" code has come to signify a special vehicle program within Lexus that falls outside the normal engineering and development process. In addition, Fuji Speedway is the IS F's home circuit, and the shape of the F-logo was inspired by many of the track's turns. The all-new Lexus IS F sport sedan is the first production vehicle to carry the F marque.

New Found Way To Use Vicks...

I just read a post from one of the forum sites I’ve been browsing for some time now that there is a new way of using vicks vaporub. They say that it works a 100 percent all the time. However, scientists from Canada Research Council (CRC - who discovered the phenomenon) aren't sure why it works.

Scientist say that for you to stop night-time coughing especially for a child, put Vicks Vaporub generously in the bottom of the feet during bedtime and then cover with socks. It is studied that even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes, and will have an effect for many, many hours of relief. This works 100 percent most of the time and is considered more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. Normally, it is extremely soothing and comfortable when coughing is controlled and you will be able to sleep soundly.

The Canada Research Council describes that the findings by their scientists are found out during their investigation in the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like acupressure. They just happened to tune in to an AM Radio Station and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical make-up of these strong drugs. It was found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime and in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

Many have tried it on when they had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked! They said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped them. The coughing stopped in a few minutes and they slept cough-free for hours. If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be absolutely amazed at the effect.

Personally, I haven’t tried this one yet but I will soon try this and will try to comment if the effects are true.

Portable Radio (My own project)....

Yesterday, I have seen my long long time project once more – my motorcycle portable radio and amplifier. These are basically used in my motorcycle as a sound set-up allowing you to hear music while on the go. However, after months of usage, I somewhat got pissed of it. So, I decided to ripped it off out of my byke and place it somewhere in my garage. After a year of keeping it in the box, I suddenly bump on it and got an idea to make it as a home radio.

So, here it goes...

This is the 50 ohm speaker that I have used and below it is the fm radio assembly with fine tuning and an LED indicator once you have found a radio signal.

A 50 ohm mono amplifier with three selectors – volume, bass, and treble. It is powered using a 12 volt DC that is harnessed from my multi adapter that I have been using to power up electronic gadgets.

This is the whole assembly where the speaker, amplifier and radio assembly is fitted in place.

With a protruding antenna for wide and clearer radio coverage.

Volume, bass, and treble with their respective indicators.

Since the project was not planned, I only used available resources such as the empty zesto carton box where I place the whole assembly. The box has several small holes in it for the speaker.

Even thought that the assembly is placed in a carton box, the quality of sounds from the speaker is good enough. It only took me 30 minutes to clean, repair, assemble, and complete the project...

Burned Out???

Do you feel like you’re like this cat? Or experience like you are burning in hell with the daily routines that you are doing? These mind-settings are what experts called as burnout.

What is burnout?

Burnout is a condition that occurs when a person begins to feel imbalance to his/her daily life. And when exposed to difficult and distressful situations at work or at home, they can easily breakdown. If these imbalances are neglected, they can lead to various major symptoms such as health problems and the quality of your work will greatly suffer.

What triggers burnout?

Basically, burnout is triggered mostly at your workplace where you effort too much but does not receive any recognitions or rewards for it. Moreover, unfair treatments, not getting enough or appropriate compensations and difficult or too much expectation by your boos can also ignite burnout.

This problem can be experience by anyone. However, the risk of entertaining this kind of situation is higher when you work hard for the company but does not get enough compensation. In addition, the company that you are working should realize that the employees should be the most important asset. With these things instilled in your work area, employees can work more efficiently. The workers should feel the job like a relationship which is worth doing for.

So, in a company, there should be appropriate rewards such as good compensation, on-time release of salary and other employment rewards. If there is no any recognitions in the part of the employee even if he/she works hard, and if there is nobody sits between the boss and employees, expect to be burned out sooner or later.
